At Kazenone, the food and the people cooking it vary by day and time. Past visits have featured obanzai lunch, medicinal-style tantan noodles, curry, coffee and sweets.
〒606-8204 Kyoto, Sakyo Ward, Tanaka Shimoyanagicho, 7-2 かぜのね01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
As a shared kitchen with different cooks working on different days and at different times, Kazenone offers a changing line-up of food. Past visits have featured lunch with obanzai—small, home-style side dishes—as well as medicinal-style tantan noodles, curry and a pancake plate.
On one earlier visit, a diner particularly remembered the small obanzai lunch for its salad dressing, a paste made with azuki beans. They said it was enjoyable with the same sort of savoury appeal as dipping lettuce in miso. A cake set came with a lightly sweetened gâteau au chocolat or an okara cake, made with soy pulp. On another day, obanzai accompanied the medicinal-style tantan noodles and curry, and one diner chose sake-lees ice cream for dessert. The changing menus offer a range of choices, from Japanese-style side dishes to noodles, curry and sweets.
Coffee, tea and homemade sweets may also be on offer on café days. A visitor during a Yamano Bako Coffee session described the Namaste Himalaya Black Coffee as easy to drink, and noted that some diners ordered a cinnamon-style coffee. These are accounts of specific visits, so check what is being served on the day.
Kazenone serves lunch and lists vegan and vegetarian options. Its quiet atmosphere suits a relaxed meal or coffee, including dining alone.
